The International Agricultural Economics Division has the following powers and duties:
- Study, analyze and monitor economic situations, foreign agricultural policies, as well as agreements and conditions on trade in goods and agricultural investment, agricultural climate change, food security and international agricultural economic cooperation at the bilateral, multilateral and international organization levels.
- Study, analyze and recommend policies and positions in agricultural trade negotiations and agricultural investment, agricultural climate change, food security and international agricultural economic cooperation under the framework of free trade, international agreements and international organizations.
- Propose policies and develop strategies related to foreign agriculture.
- Follow up on the implementation of the obligations and analyze the impacts to propose guidelines and measures to support positive and negative impacts, including remedial measures resulting from compliance with international agreements, as well as coordinate operations and follow up on the results of operations according to measures to support the impacts that occur.
- Coordinate on emergency rice reserves
- Work together with or support the operations of other relevant or assigned agencies.
