On 23 October 2025, Ms. Hirunya Srasom, Director of the International Agricultural Economics Division, together with Ms. Pathumwadee Imthua, Minister (Agriculture) / Permanent Representative of Thailand to FAO/IFAD/WFP in Rome and officials from the International Agricultural Economics Division (IAED) and Office of Agricultural Affairs in Rome, attended the 53rd Session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) at the FAO headquarters, Rome, Italy.
The key item of the day was the Global Thematic Event on Conflicts and Food Security and Nutrition: Advancing the Uptake of the CFS Framework for Action for Food Security and Nutrition in Protracted Crises (CFS-FFA), which aimed to promote the practical implementation of the CFS-FFA and review progress in its application at the national level. The event also marked the 10th anniversary of the framework’s endorsement.
On this occasion, the Director of IAED, as Head of the Thai Delegation, delivered a statement reaffirming Thailand’s commitment to advancing the uptake of the CFS Framework for Action to strengthen the resilience of local communities and farmers. The statement emphasized the use of evidence-based data to support policymaking, promotion of sustainable natural resource management, climate-smart agriculture, and risk-informed planning to protect livelihoods and food systems throughout all stages of crises.
In addition, Thailand was included in the drafting committee this year for the preparation of the draft report to be finalized and adopted by CFS members.
